Equine Connections

❈ Equine Connections

In October 2025, Kula Kids Yoga, in collaboration with the Equestrian Center, expanded its holistic wellness offerings through the creation of Equine Connections — an inclusive equine-assisted wellness program designed to support emotional, physical, mental, and social well-being for individuals of all ages and backgrounds. Rooted in the philosophy of connection, mindfulness, and whole-person healing, Equine Connections provides a safe and supportive environment where clients can experience the transformative benefits of working alongside horses in nature.

Unlike traditional therapy models that focus solely on symptoms or diagnoses, Equine Connections takes a holistic and individualized approach, recognizing that every person's journey, strengths, and needs are unique. The program welcomes children, teens, adults, families, and groups with no age requirements or diagnosis restrictions, creating accessible opportunities for growth, healing, self-discovery, and connection.

Horses have a unique ability to mirror human emotions and behaviors, offering immediate, honest, and nonjudgmental feedback. Because horses are highly intuitive and sensitive to energy, body language, and emotional regulation, equine-assisted experiences can help individuals develop greater self-awareness, confidence, communication skills, emotional balance, trust, and resilience. Research and practice have shown that equine-assisted learning and therapy can positively support anxiety, stress management, trauma recovery, ADHD, autism, emotional regulation, social skills, nervous system regulation, and overall mental wellness.

Equine Connections combines the expertise and complementary backgrounds of Kristy Van Den Broek, Kathy Corley, Jodie McTaggart and Jessica McTaggart.

Kristy brings decades of experience working with children, families, and wellness communities, along with extensive training in yoga, mindfulness, Ayurveda, breathwork, trauma-sensitive practices, Reiki, Yoga for Autism, ADHD, and Differently-Abled Children, as well as certifications in Equine-Assisted Learning (EAL) and Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP). Her approach integrates movement, mindfulness, nervous system support, creativity, and emotional awareness to create experiences that are empowering, compassionate, and deeply supportive.

Kathy Corley, RN, EAL, contributes nearly 50 years of nursing experience and a profound understanding of health, wellness, and individualized client care. Her calm and nurturing presence, combined with her strong assessment and critical thinking skills, allows her to support clients with empathy, professionalism, and realistic wellness goals tailored to each individual's needs. Together, Kristy and Kathy create a collaborative environment that honors the connection between mind, body, spirit, and relationship.

At the heart of Equine Connections is the belief that healing and growth happen through authentic connection — with ourselves, with others, with nature, and with the horses who guide the process alongside us. Whether supporting emotional wellness, building confidence, strengthening communication, reducing stress, or simply creating moments of joy and presence, the program is designed to help individuals reconnect with their inner strengths and experience meaningful transformation in a compassionate and inclusive setting.
